Tru-Flex has an immediate opening for a Sales Engineer.

    Responsibilities

    The Sales Engineer represents the company as the expert in the bellows field and is accountable for the application of current and future technologies so that they optimally meet the technical needs (form, fit, function, quality, manufacturability,) of all stakeholders. The position helps to sell Tru-Flex products using technical, organizational and customer knowledge to influence the purchasing decision of customer technical teams. The role typically works with an account owner within the sales department but it may also be designated as an account owner themselves. In addition, the position provides input and participates in the marketing, market planning, production and technical development of products and services.

     

    Essential Functions

    1. Responsible for the technical support to sales of new and ongoing business.
      1. Makes sales contacts, researches customer needs and develops application of products and services in alignment with Tru-Flex sales processes.
      2. Makes technical presentations with or without a representative from the sales organization.
      3. Acts as the customer’s primary technical representative from company.
      4. Makes technical visits on behalf of company, to technical groups at various customers, potential customers, and other organizations.
      5. Develops and maintains communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of staff and customers using established guidelines.
      6. Ensure that sales calls (virtual and on travel) are effectively leveraged and performed efficiently. As needed, travel to visit key customers or prospects.
    2. Coordinates all technical requirements to support the efforts of the sales department.
      1. Maintain accountability and/or responsibility for customer specifications, prints, bills of material, MRP routings, APQP launch activities
      2. Manages technical aspects of committees and working groups.
      3. Participate in the North American sales team processes using the Results – Objectives – Activities – Rhythm – Coaching framework.
      4. Monitor and maintain sales engineering activities and performance within the company’s given sales process framework (Prospect for leads ->> Qualify leads into opportunities ->> Influence customer's buying criteria ->> Develop and Position solutions ->> Build Confidence in the eyes of the customer ->> Close the deal) using appropriate IS (Information Systems) tools such as CPQ, SFA, CRM, ERP, Excel, … This included input into sales forecasting and planning.
    3. Participates in development of new products, modification of existing products and termination of ineffective products.
      1. Gathers information from potential customers and develop products that meet customer needs.
      2. Keep technically in tune with the core and adjacent markets to identify new profitable growth opportunities.
      3. Participate in and, when delegated, lead marketing and/or lead generation activities or initiatives.
    4. Keep cost of selling expenses within budgeted amount (T&E, events, samples, advertising.

    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Minimum of a Four-year college degree (B.S. in Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field)Technical Capacity.
    • 2+ years of related experience desired, would also consider a recent college graduate with applicable intern or CO-OP experience
    • Process orientation including the functions of selling and APQP
    • Strong judgment and decision-making skills
    • Negotiation and persuasion skills
    • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
    • Ability to monitor and manage key customer relationships
    • Ability to speak technically regarding vehicles and products when communicating with OEM’s
    • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally on a regular basis

    Physical Summary

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use his/her hands, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing capacity required to maximize ability to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly.
