    Tru-Flex has a unique opportunity for a Machine Operator with welding experience, proven mechanical abilities and leadership skills. In this position, the employee will have some welding responsibilities, but will primarily work in the capacity of a machine operator. Previous leadership experience is a plus.

    Responsibilities

    In this position, the employee will be responsible for cutting and joining metals as well as safely performing machine setups to start the production cycle by controlling and adjusting the functions and settings of machines. The ideal candidate will also take an active role in making sure up time is maximized in their area(s), start and stop times are adhered to by team members. Must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precaution 

     

     

    Essential Functions:

    1. Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
    2. Responsible for safe, timely and quality production of products.
    3. Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements; control and adjust the functions and settings of machines (e.g. speed, pressure, etc.)
    4. Perform machine setups (calibration, cleaning etc.) to start a production cycle and as needed when the production schedule demands.
    5. Accurate recording of production data, both manual and electronic.
    6. Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
    7. Repair assemblies and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
    8. Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
    9. Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety and guarantees their smooth running.
    10. When needed, act as a productive team member in other areas of the manufacturing process
    11. Lead 5S activities daily
    12. Lead and promote TFPS initiatives to improve processes
    13. Inspect parts with precision and measuring tools to ensure they meet requirements
    14. Keep records of approved and defective units or final products
    15. Enter production data into Epicor system
    16. Perform preventative and regular maintenance on machines to ensure that their operational life is extended

    Qualifications

    Requirements:

    1. High School Diploma or equivalent
    2. Minimum of 3 years of related experience; 5+ years of experience is preferred.
    3. Welding certificate preferred
    4. Previous experience of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools (caliper, micrometer, etc.),welding and production procedures
    5. Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, MIG, etc.)
    6. Experience in using electrical or manual tools (swagers, squares, calipers, etc.)
    7. Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
    8. Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves, etc.), as well as adherence to health and safety policies and regulations (e.g. constant proper use of personal protective equipment)
    9. Willingness and ability to learn and implement TFPS principles. Previous experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts desired
    10. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
    11. Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
    12. Analytical and problem solving skills
    13. Compliance with all health and safety regulations, policies and procedures
    14. Ability to read blueprints, schematics and manuals
    15. Attention to detail
    16. Must have excellent attendance as well as willingness and ability to work overtime

     

    Physical Summary:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, hear, grasp, reach with hand/arms, use hands including repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; occasionally required to push/pull, walk and operate mechanical equipment; and rarely required to talk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb stairs or balance. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Hearing capacity required to maximize ability to understand all verbal communication and react accordingly. Basic PPE (safety glasses and safety shoes) are required.
